Singer/Songwriter Mac McAnally has a song entitled, “The Invisible Man”. Although the subject of the song is not relevant to podcast editing, the title certainly is. The fact is, as a podcast editor, I should be “The Invisible Man”. When editing a podcast, the goal is to make it sound so good the listener doesn’t realize that the editor has been there, doing their job. Ideally, even the client shouldn’t realize that the editor has been there unless they stop and compare the final product with the original recording.
